Generator installations
Generator Installation
A backup generator resolves the loss of energy during an outage at homes and businesses. At Paul Richard Electric, we install generator systems to keep the lights on and ensure that your vital electrical services function safely without interruption. The severe weather that commonly passes through Houston, Cypress, and the surrounding communities can mean a power outage that lasts for hours or even days. Our team of certified, experienced electricians can install a quiet, reliable, automated generator that produces the energy you need to keep your home and family comfortable or your business operating.
Choosing the Right Generator for Your Home or Business
Our process involves discussing your specific needs for electrical power. We install generators of various brands and sizes based on the requirements of a home or business. A generator can supply power to the entire home system or to the key components such as your lights, heating and cooling systems, refrigerator and freezer, and electronics such as TVs or medical equipment.
For residential backup generators, the system will be installed outside your home. Modern generators are automated and will immediately produce electricity in a blackout or outage. Generators are powered by your home or business’s natural gas supply or liquid propane. Our electrician will discuss your specific needs and advise you on the type of generator that is ideal for your property.
Need a Backup Generator? Safety Matters.
At Paul Richard Electric, we install generators with advanced safety protocols — and it matters. We are meticulous, and our processes conform to all state and federal safety regulations. A standby generator can be installed by our professional team to provide the power you need, when you need it — safely.

Outlets and switch replacement
Outlet & Switch Services
Over time, the outlets and switches in a home or business may need to be replaced or updated. Older outlets and switches may no longer provide the level of safety you need for your home, family, or commercial facility. When an outlet is overloaded, it poses a risk to the structure and may trip a breaker frequently, indicating a more fundamental problem. Outlets can degrade over time and require replacement. Home and commercial building design comes into play, with older outlets and switches lacking the features of modern, smart systems with remote access controls.
GFCI Outlets, Outdoor Outlets, & Switches
A residential or commercial property may have been built before Texas adopted the 2020 NEC (National Electric Code) code. All electrical work must be installed in conformance with the current code. Older facilities should undergo a risk assessment procedure to identify any existing problems that should be corrected, including outlets and switches. It takes time for a new code to be implemented, and not all electricians are up to date on the changes — we are.
At Paul Richard Electric, we pride ourselves on remaining at the forefront of the industry and performing all outlet and switch replacements to reflect these requirements. The NEC code requires all residential outlets to be supplied by a branch circuit, with GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) protection. This requirement has not yet been implemented, but if you are planning to install a hot tub or a custom outdoor lighting system, it makes sense that your electrician performs the work according to the latest requirements. At Paul Richard Electric, we perform all electrical work with the most stringent safety protocols and codes.
Circuit breaker replacements and repairs
Circuit Breaker Services
The condition of your home or business's electrical system is a core safety issue. Your circuit breakers must be overloaded. The circuit breakers in a residential or commercial building must be in excellent condition to protect the integrity of the system and avoid the risk of fire. At Paul Richard Electric, we can repair faulty circuit breakers correctly and swiftly, with a fast response and excellent customer care.
Updated Circuit Breakers — A Critical Safety Issue
Older homes and commercial buildings were not built to provide for the energy needs of a modern family or business. Most homes and commercial facilities now have many electronic devices, including TVs and digital devices such as phones, laptops, and smart appliances with an internet connection.
According to the CDC, short circuits are the most common cause of structure fires (caused by overloading the electrical system), along with the misuse of extension cords. When the needs of a business or family exceed the capacity of the electrical system, the best-case scenario is that the breaker trips. When a breaker trips frequently, it may be a faulty circuit breaker or the need to install another circuit to supply the electricity a home or business requires. When a circuit is overloaded, the wires within the walls overheat, posing an elevated risk of causing a fire. Our electrician can evaluate your circuit breakers, identify the problem, and perform the necessary repairs.
Electrical panel replacements and repairs
Electrical Panel Services
Schedule Repair & Installation
The electrical panel at a home or commercial property plays a critical role in the safety of the entire electrical system. Older homes and commercial properties may require the repair or replacement of an existing electrical panel. An electrical panel can last for decades but, eventually, will require service or the installation of a new panel.
Signs of a Faulty Electrical Panel
When an aging or faulty electrical panel begins to fail, various issues can occur:
System Overload
Electrical systems installed decades in the past may not deliver the energy needs of a 21st century family or business. When the building was wired, the electricians did not predict the developments in technology and the multiple electronic devices commonly in use at homes and in commercial buildings.
Residential Electrical Panel Repair & Replacement
Repairing an electrical panel is not a DIY task. For safety reasons, these jobs should be performed by an experienced, certified electrician. Older homes were not wired to support the vast number of appliances, HVAC systems, electronic devices, car chargers, and other modern devices that require electrical energy. Our electricians will thoroughly analyze the electrical needs in your home to install a new panel that will perform correctly.
